Senator Kim Carr, the Minister for Innovation, Industry, Science and Research, welcomed a call today for submissions by the Chair of the Government's independent review of the National Innovation System.
"The call for submissions presents a rare opportunity for all Australians to put forward their ideas on how we can create a more effective and efficient national innovation system," Senator Carr said.
"Innovation is central to our national well-being and the review panel will be holding extensive consultations with stakeholders, beginning with public forums in March.
"The review will cover all aspects of the innovation system.
"An important focus will be examining how we can better target Australia's innovation capabilities and examining what principles and actions might better position Australia to unlock its full innovative potential.
"It is pleasing to see such rapid progress in a process that has the potential to have a major impact on shaping the future of all Australians. I am looking forward to receiving the review panel's findings when Dr Cutler presents his final report at the end of July," Senator Carr said.
The dates of the March stakeholder meetings are attached. The panel's call for submissions, further information on the review and details of the meetings are available at www.innovation.gov.au/innovationreview
